welfare, recreation & sporting facilities - australian white ensign club
The bottom deck of 203 Lagos Circle is the Australian White Ensign Club (AWEC). This is an RAN Central Canteens Fund sponsored All Ranks Recreation Facility provided primarily for the benefit of visiting RAN Ship’s Company personnel. The facility may also be used by guests in the other houses when it is not being used by personnel from a visiting RAN vessel, is not being used as an approved private or official function venue or is not otherwise booked. Personnel wishing to use the facility should check on its availability with the POSN or CPOMT beforehand. It will generally not be available when RAN’s ships are in port (as ship crew members may be using it), when the accommodation on the top deck of 203 Lagos Circle is being used for duty purposes and/or when the venue is booked out for a private or official function.
The AWEC has the following amenities:
- Pool tables (two)
- Dart Boards (three)
- Flat Screen/Wide Screen LCD TV and audio/visual system
- BBQs
- Bar (BYO)
- Ice Machine
- Internet and computer facilities
- Laundry (BYO washing powder)
Bar. Visitors to the AWEC wishing to use the bar, including visiting Ship’s Company personnel, are requested to purchase their own stock.
Pay TV. Pay TV is available within the AWEC.
Entertainment System User Guide. The entertainment system controls are located behind the white door opposite the TV. To identify the controls, go by the brand name. Point the SAMSUNG remote control at the TV to turn it on and select “AV STEREO” as the source. Remember to point the other remotes at the equipment behind you in the room. The receiver source should be on DTV/CBL for STARHUB or CD for the CD player – DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE CABLE CONNECTIONS AT THE REAR AS NOT ALL THE RECEIVER INPUTS ARE SERVICEABLE. Use the receiver for volume control. Turn the STARHUB set-top box on (green light) and check the volume is on full. Press “mosaic” button to fast track to the channel desired – even unsubscribed channels will be displayed.
Security. The AWEC is protected by a cipher lock system. The code to access the AWEC may be obtained from the RANLO SINGAPORE Accommodation Manager – POSN on +65 9815 1832. The code is changed regularly.
Functions. The AWEC may be booked for private or official functions through the POSN. The person responsible for running the function will be briefed by the POSN beforehand. This brief includes instructions on how to use AWEC equipment (e.g. stereo system and TV) and how to dispose of rubbish. The person responsible for running the function shall be responsible for ensuring the venue is properly cleaned afterwards. Noting that the AWEC is located in a civilian residential area, a noise curfew after 2359 applies.
